mucholderthen: THE ULTIMATE CHRONOSTRATIGRAPHIC CHART Ray Troll is a world-renowned Alaska-based artist, specializing in fish and paleontology art. This is from his Pancakes and Geology: Cruisin’ the Fossil Freeway. I drew this image for the Cruisin’ the Fossil Freeway book and exhibit I did with Dr. Kirk Johnson. … I truly believe that everyone should know the geologic ages of our planet. They should be taught in kindergarten right alongside the ABCs as far as I’m concerned. I’m dead serious about this folks. And hey… they’re surprisingly easy to memorize and having this t-shirt in your wardrobe will make it even easier. Website: Troll Art Continue reading

ralphewig: Designer Bodies – the capabilities of 3d printing (or additive manufacturing) are reshaping entire industries. With the application of that concept to biology, the vision of designer bodies is becoming increasingly plausible. And while our current culture may obsess over the typical movie star physique, more creative minds are conjuring up not only entirely new appearances, but also advanced capabilities. Are “body by Chanel” or “performance by bodysport” in our near term future? Need blue skin, four arms, or a tail? Want to augment and extend what you already have? Valkyrie Ice is here to help you become your … Continue reading

Only 2 days into the Free Agent market of the 2013 football year and the Broncos add huge pieces! The large and talented guard, Louis Vasquez from San Diego (sorry Philip Rivers), Wes Welker (stolen from the Patriots), and D. Rodgers-Cromartie, now our corners are covered! Not to mention re-signing Vickerson, adding Terrance Knighton and Stewart Bradley. Now a RB (Michael Turner?) and possibly Safety and we’re so loaded for the next season. It’s hard to not be excited and already exclaiming Super Bowl XLVIII here we come! Fire it up Broncos Nation!!! Continue reading

misssheisshe: Kailashnath Temple, also Kailash Temple or Kailasanath Temple is a famous temple dug…in the wall of a high basalt cliff in the complex located at Ellora, Maharashtra, India. It is a megalith carved out of one single rock. It was built in the 8th century by the Rashtrakuta king Krishna I. The Kailash Temple is notable for its vertical excavation—carvers started at the top of the original rock, and excavated downward. It is estimated that about 400,000 tons of rocks was scooped out over hundreds of years to construct this monolithic structure. Someday. Continue reading

CARACAS, Venezuela Hugo Chavez 1954-2013President Hugo Chávez of Venezuela died Tuesday afternoon after a long battle with cancer, the government announced, leaving behind a bitterly divided nation in the grip of a political crisis that grew more acute as he languished for weeks, silent and out of sight in hospitals in Havana and Caracas. His departure from a country he dominated for 14 years casts into doubt the future of his socialist revolution. It alters the political balance in Venezuela, the fourth-largest foreign oil supplier to the United States, and in Latin America, where Mr. Chávez led a group of … Continue reading
